Your pump and
Extreme temperatures
Insulin in the cartridge can freeze if exposed to tem-
peratures below 32°F (0°C) and can lose its potency.
If you are outside in very cold temperatures for any
length of time, keep the pump next to your body and
covered by warm clothing.
Insulin can also lose its potency in very warm
temperatures. Avoid leaving your pump in direct
sunlight. Remove your pump before entering a hot
tub, Jacuzzi® or sauna, as the temperatures may be
too high for the pump to operate properly, and the
insulin can start to lose its potency. See Specications
in the Technical Information chapter for appropriate
storage and operation temperatures.
Water
As long as the pump’s labels and outer shell are intact
(no cracks or chips), the pump is watertight, so you
do not have to remove the pump when showering or
bathing, and can participate in unlimited swimming
activities. When diving, the pump is watertight to a
depth of 8 feet (2.4 meters) for 30 minutes or 12 feet
(3.6 meters) for 3 minutes. Dry the pump o with a
clean towel when you are nished. If swimming in
salt water, rinse the pump in tap water and then dry it
o with a clean towel to prevent a salt buildup on the
pump’s outer shell and display.
You may choose to use a watertight dressing on your
infusion site when entering the water.
Caution: e CoZmonitor® module is NOT water-
proof. Do not immerse the CoZmonitor®
module in any liquid. Before bathing, swimming
or any other water activity, you must remove the
module from the pump. Heavy perspiration could
also gain access to internal components. Allow-
ing the CoZmonitor® module to get wet will
cause it to stop working. Repeatedly exposing the
CoZmonitor® module to liquids will result in you
being charged for replacement modules. Contact
CozMore® Customer Service for specics.
Contact sports
When participating in sports, particularly contact
sports, talk to your healthcare provider about wheth-
er you need to remove your pump. You will need to
decide on an insulin plan during sports.
