Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Topic: Backlight
How do I turn on my backlight?
You can personalize your pump so that the backlight
lights in one of two ways: either “manually” when you
press the
c
key from the screensaver, or if you prefer
you can have it light whenever the pump is “awake
(not at the screensaver screen).
If you choose to have it turn on
manually, from the screensaver press
c
; while you are pressing buttons
the backlight will remain on. Once
the pump has gone back to the
screensaver the backlight will auto-
matically turn o.
If you choose to have it light whenever the pump is
awake be aware that your battery will be used up much
more quickly.
See page 73 for a description of the display, backlight
and screensaver, and page 102 for personalizing the
backlight setting.
Why does my backlight blink?
e backlight blinks whenever the motor is running.
Topic: Battery in pump
While I am wearing my pump it powers up then
goes through the startup routine. First it vibrates,
then beeps and shows the Deltec Cozmo® logo
and welcome beeps. Why does this happen?
When I press on the battery cap, the pump chirps.
Why does this happen?
Typically this means your battery cap is loose and
needs to be tightened.
If you have the CoZmonitor® Blood Glucose Module
attached, you must use the battery cap supplied with
that product rather than the one that came with
your pump. e one supplied with the CoZmonito
module has slightly longer threads which are needed
so that it can still hold the battery in place while
holding the module in place.
If power-ups are happening you will be able to see
this in the Complete History report in the History
menu. e “events” may look something like this:
08/17/06 08:48 
Pump powered down
08/17/06 08:48 
Pump powered up
08:17/06 08:48 

Delivery started
08/17/06 08:48 
Basal rate changed
to 0.95 units/hour
Check history again aer a few hours for any addi-
tional notes about the pump powering up or down.
Possible solutions to this problem include:
Warning: Make sure that the battery cap is fully
tightened to avoid an interruption in battery
power which can cause the pump to power
down and stop the delivery of insulin. A pro-
longed interruption in the delivery of insulin
can result in serious patient injury or death.
