Inspecting the pump
Other than periodic visual inspection and cleaning
of the pump, no testing of the pump is required. e
pump’s internal soware, hardware and dual micro-
processors are constantly checked while the pump is
operating, and during the self tests performed during
power up.
• Visuallyinspectthepumpforanydamagetothe
pump’s outer shell. Look for chips or cracks. If the
outer shell is chipped or cracked, the pump will no
longer be watertight. Visually inspect the cartridge
and battery chambers to make sure they are clean
and free of foreign objects/materials.
• Visuallyinspectthedisplay.Iftherearemissingor
incomplete characters, or if the display is other-
wise damaged, stop using the pump immediately.
• Visuallyinspectthecartridgecap.Makesureitts
properly and tightly on its compartment.
Warning: Make sure the battery cap is fully tight-
ened to avoid an interruption in battery power
which can cause the pump to power down and
stop the delivery of insulin. A prolonged inter-
ruption in the delivery of insulin can result in
serious patient injury or death.
