Setup

You can set up to 24 correction factors, in half

hour increments. Factors will be in either mg/dl or

mmol/L, depending on which you use to measure

your blood glucose, and can be set as follows:

5 to 30 mg/dl in 1 mg/dl increments;

30 to 100 mg/dl in 5 mg/dl increments;

100 to 400 mg/dl in 10 mg/dl increments

– or –

0.2 to 1.5 mmol/L in increments of 0.05 mmol/L;

1.5 to 5 mmol/L in increments of 0.25 mmol/L;

5 to 23 mmol/L in increments of 0.5 mmol/L.

Specify your Duration of insulin action, or the

amount of time insulin remains active in your body

aer a bolus. is setting looks at previously deliv-

ered boluses and determines, based on the amount

of time you have programmed, if any insulin from

previous boluses is still actively aecting your blood

glucose level.

Once your duration of insulin action is correctly pro-

grammed and you use the correction bolus feature,

any insulin that is still active in your body from a

previous bolus will be taken into consideration. e

screen that tells you the bolus amount recommended

shows that the amount was reduced due to this

“insulin on board.”

Specify your Target Blood Glucose; you will work

with your healthcare provider to determine a target

blood glucose level specically for you. For some

people their target blood glucose varies throughout

the day and night, so the pump allows you to pro-

gram a single target for the whole day (starting at

midnight), or several targets, also starting at mid-

night, for specic times of the day or night.

You can set up to 24 target blood glucose settings:

mg/dl: 80 to 200 mg/dl in 5 mg/dl increments;

mmol/L: 4.4 to 11.1 mmol/L in 0.1 mmol/L

increments.

Basal patterns

Warning: You should receive specic training on

programming and using basal patterns. Please

carefully read all instructions and talk to your

healthcare provider.

You need to program a maximum basal rate and edit

your basal pattern(s).

In QuickStart™ you can edit the active basal pattern.

(Renaming the pattern(s) can only be done in

Setup > Delivery > Basal Pattern—see page 114.)

NOTE: If you personalize your pump in Quick-

Start™, then later enter other setup functions (such

as Setup > Delivery > Meal Bolus, for instance),

the settings shown in that menu may appear dif-

ferently, depending on the personalization done.
