Using the Pump - More Features

Temporary Rate

Temporary Rate allows you to temporarily raise or lower

your basal rate. This feature can be useful when you

need less insulin (for example, during exercise), or

when you need more insulin (for example, when you

are sick).

Warning: Discuss your individual insulin needs with

your healthcare provider.

You can program a temporary rate using “Percent” or

“Units/Hr.” If you choose Percent, on the pump you will

enter the percentage of the active rate that you want the

pump to increase or decrease to. If your basal pattern

has multiple rate segments, you may want to use per-

cent, as it will monitor the pattern for changes, and

continue to calculate the percent of the active rate. If you

choose Units/Hr, on the pump you will enter a rate

which the pump will deliver at for the duration of the

temporary rate.

In this menu, you can also set up customized temporary

rates, choose which ones you want displayed in the

Temporary Rate menu, and also choose a name for each

rate (from the preselected list. If you want to create a

name, you will need to use My Treatment Assistant
