About the Pump

screen backlight; the

backlight automatically

turns off when the screen-

saver reactivates; when the

motor is running, the

backlight blinks). The

screensaver allows the

pump to save on battery power.

To choose a menu item, press the

key until

the edit bar is over the item you want. To program a

value (once inside a programming menu), press the

key until the value you want is in the display.

To save a value or setting, press Next to move forward

to the next screen of the menu, or press Back to back

out of the menu (for some “sub-menu” items, you need

to press Done). For this reason, pump programming

has a “time-out” feature. If you start to make a change to

a value/setting, and then are unsure you want to follow

through with the change, wait 45 seconds, and the

change is canceled and the original value/setting returns

to the screen.

Description of pump display & menus

All programming, operating and alarm/alert information

is shown in the display. Programming of the pump is

menu driven, like a cell phone or ATM. Page 1 of the

“home screen” shows the current basal pattern and

rate. Page 2 shows the last bolus information.

Additionally, you can use a computer and My Treatment

Assistant

™

to customize certain screens and settings on

your pump. At the upper left of the home screen, you

can input your name or other information in place of

the “Cozmo” name. On page 3 of the home screen, you

can input important emergency information and phone

numbers (or whatever information you want).

A variety of symbols appear on screen. For example, in

the main pump menu, each menu item is accompanied

by a visual symbol. Also, any time you have to answer a

question before proceeding, the question appears on the

screen accompanied by

. Alarms and alerts are ac-

companied by

. If the pump is performing a task

which takes a little time, you will see

When you are at the home screen, and no keys or

buttons are pressed for 15 seconds, the screensaver

display appears (see Figure 3). Press any key on the
