Using the Pump - More Features

Delivering a Touch Bolus

Delivering a Touch Bolus is performed by pressing the

Touch Bolus button on the side of the pump. A Touch

Bolus can only be initiated when the pump is at the

screensaver or home screen. The first press of the button

causes the pump to beep or vibrate twice to indicate

you are now ready to program and deliver a touch

bolus. Then, each press of the button will adjust the size

of the bolus by a predefined increment.

Warning: When you first start using this feature,

you should always take the pump out so you can

view the screens as you program them. Then, once

you are comfortable with how it works, you can pro-

gram and deliver a bolus without even taking the pump

out.

Whichever method you use to program a bolus (Grams

- Carb or Units - Insulin) will be used here, too. Also,

the increment amount you use (see When changing

carbohydrates increment by: and/or When changing

bolus increment by: screen(s) starting on page 44) will

be used here.

For example: you use Grams - Carb, and your carbs

increment by 5 grams. You are going to have a meal

which consists of 25 grams of carbohydrate.

1. Press the Touch Bolus button once to activate the touch

bolus (2 beeps or 2 vibrations).

NOTE: If you press and hold the button for longer than 2

seconds, the pump will automatically return to the

home screen.

2. Then, within 10 seconds, press the Touch Bolus but-

ton 5 times (for 25 grams of carbohydrate).

NOTE: If you press and hold the button for longer than 2

seconds, the pump will automatically return to the

home screen.

The pump beeps 5 times (see scale shown below - the

scale is designed to make it easier to keep count of the

beeps) or vibrates 5 times.

3. There will then be a pause, followed by 5 beeps (see

scale above) or 5 vibrations to confirm the amount you

have entered. If you hear more or less than 5 beeps or

feel more or less than 5 vibrations, wait 10 seconds for

the bolus to cancel, then begin at step 1, being careful

to press the Touch Bolus button only the number of

times indicated.
