5. Fill cannula

Filling the cannula is an important step if you are using

an infusion set that has a separate access device (needle

or cannula). It delivers a small amount of insulin that

fills the access device. If you do not fill the cannula,

there is a delay in insulin delivery once the pump is

started as the access device fills.
