Herbal supplements may also have an effect on your health.

Never begin taking any herbal supplement without first

discussing it with your healthcare provider.

If you drop your pump or hit it

hard

If you drop your pump or hit it against something hard,

you will need to immediately look it over carefully to make

sure it is not damaged. Disconnect your infusion set from

your body and suspend delivery until you have made sure

the pump is working correctly (see instructions provided

with the infusion set for disconnecting). Remove the bat-

tery, then reinsert it. The pump will perform the self-tests,

and let you know if there is a problem.

Make sure the pump display is working correctly. If there

are missing or incomplete characters, you will need to

have the pump serviced.

Look over the pump’s outer shell carefully, checking for

cracks or chips. If there are cracks or chips, the pump will

no longer be watertight. You will need to have the pump

serviced if there is any damage.

Make sure the cartridge cap and battery cap are in place

and secure. Check all connections on the cartridge and

infusion set (wrap a piece of tissue paper around the con-

nections to check for moisture, which could indicate a

leak). If moisture is present, tighten the connectors. If the

connectors appear damaged, you must replace the car-

tridge and infusion set.

Warning: If you drop the pump or hit it against

something hard, always inspect it carefully to make

sure it is still working properly. Make sure the dis-

play is working correctly, and the cartridge, cartridge

cap, battery cap and infusion set are connected cor-

rectly. Wrap a piece of tissue paper around the connec-

tions to check for moisture (which could indicate a

leak). If there is damage to the pump outer shell (cracks,

chips), the pump may no longer be watertight.

Warning: If the display has missing or incomplete

characters, or if the pump does not seem to be work-

ing correctly, stop using the pump immediately. Con-

tact your healthcare provider for health advice and

Deltec, Inc. for information on servicing your pump.

Be prepared to inject insulin with an insulin syringe or

pen.
